A documentary film and educational experience, “Blood Stripe: A Spouse’s Story” explores one woman’s real-life struggle with the long-term effects of her Marine husband’s service in Iraq.
Megan Cain was thankful her husband, Jeremy, returned from Iraq. Many of his fellow Marines in the 3/25 did not. Yet, Jeremy wasn't the same when he came home. Combat had left him with PTSD and a traumatic brain injury, invisible wounds that made most days a struggle and put a strain on their family. When things seemed most desperate, a contact lead to a path of understanding and realization that sparked a journey — one that continues today. This documentary, adapted from Denise Weller's original theatrical production, tells Megan and Jeremy's story with a mix of dance, music and interviews. Hauntingly moving and intensely revealing, Blood Stripe is a must-see for military veterans, their spouses and patriotic Americans alike. |
Megan's story is all too common. Approximately 730,000 veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from PTSD, major depression, or other mental health conditions. Sadly, one in five, a staggering 146,000 of these veterans have been diagnosed with PTSD. Of those who are married, nearly 50 percent of their marriages end in divorce. |
